The Program on Health and Clinical Informatics applies state of the art informatics tools to optimize clinical, educational and research outcomes for The UNC School of Medicine, the North Carolina healthcare system and our community at large. This program is the result of a year long strategic plan within the UNC School of Medicine to meet the growing need for a clinical informatics program. In answer to this need, a collaboration was born between the School of Medicine and the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute. As leaders in Health and Clinical Informatics, we:
- design education with optimal quality to emphasize the roles of informatics systems in supporting best practices, population health, care coordination and chronic disease management.
- create tools that can support the research of the future
- utilize advanced analytical techniques to improve patient health using clinical data
- use innovative tools and processes to reach North Carolina communities to support clinical care and improve health outcomes
